Many overseas clients are attracted to technology companies in India by impressive presentations, confident promises, competitive pricing, and strong commitments during the sales process. Unfortunately, some vendors change their behavior after contracts are signed and payments are received—deadlines are missed, communication becomes limited, and the promised quality or functionality is never delivered.
This pattern creates frustration, financial loss, and serious operational challenges for customers who trusted the vendor to fulfill its commitments. Small businesses are especially vulnerable because pursuing refunds or legal action across international borders may cost more than the original engagement, leaving them with little choice but to absorb the loss and move forward.
India has many talented and dependable technology companies, so this issue should not be viewed as representative of the entire industry. However, clients should protect themselves through milestone-based payments, measurable acceptance criteria, regular demonstrations, source-code access, documented escalation procedures, and clearly defined refund or termination rights. Trust may win a contract, but accountability, communication, and consistent delivery are what preserve a long-term global relationship.
